Neutrogena Clinical Fine Fairness Radiance Essence

Love love love Neutrogena products and am absolutely loving the new Neutrogena Clinical Fine Fairness skincare line.
Neutrogena Clinical Fine Fairness skincare line has a unique combination of VITAL-IONSTM and Lily Nectar that work together to lighten dark spots and revitalise skin from deep within.

VITAL-IONSTM technology contains zinc and copper minerals that help boost energy supply to the skin cells as a catalyst to revitalise the skin’s cellular renewal process to quickly disperse the accumulated melanin.

Lily Nectar, which comprises of White Lily extracts and stabilized Vitamin C, inhibits melanin formation by blocking the skin’s ‘melanin production’ signals, which are normally activated when the skin is over-exposed to the sun’s UV rays.
I've used several whitening products before and while there are some good ones in the market right now, their prices are on the very high end. When it comes to the more affordable brands, I was disappointed to find that results were disappointing. I especially hated the ones which promised whitening and had special ingredients like pearl powder because all it did was put powdery white or reflective particles on my skin surface so it gave only the illusion of brighter skin. That's not what I'm looking for!

My biggest skin concerns, are pre-mature aging in the form of sun spots and having a dull skin tone. So I only consider a product to be truly whitening when it gives my skin a natural radiance ... not a mask!

My favourite product from this range is the Neutrogena Clinical Fine Fairness Radiance Essence, $45.90. Just one bottle can lighten a year's build up of subborn dark spots. It is dermatologist tested to give visible results in just 3 weeks.
There is a dual pump on this bottle which pumps an even amount of two liquids at the same time. One is more gel like and the other is creamier. When mixed together it feels emollient but still very light weight. Just like the packaging of this range which is an elegant white and gold... the pleasant floral scent of the product smells very luxe and high end.

I just apply it over my face, it spreads easily, gliding on my skin and it gets absorbed very quickly. It has no sticky or heavy residue on my skin surface, so I can continue with my other products or make-up straight after.

After a couple weeks of use, I notice that my skin is brighter and more radiant... the little uneven bits like sunspots around my forehead and cheeks which I have had forever have diminished and lightened.

Here is my video review of the Neutrogena Fine Fairness Radiance Essence:
•
Here is the Tried & Tested video from Neutrogena.

The other products in this range are:

Neutrogena Clinical Fine Fairness Radiance Cream, $34.90
This is a very rich cream provides sufficient hydration for dewy soft, smooth and moisturised skin with youthful luminosity. I spread a small amount evenly on my face and neck every night after using my Neutrogena Clinical Fine Fairness Radiance Essence. When I wake up in the morning, my skin still feels very moisturised and supple.

Neutrogena Clinical Fine Fairness Multi-Protect UV Fluid SPF50+ PA+++, $34.90
Sun protection is important but I don't like it when it feels heavy or clogs my pores and I especially hate it when it has that sunblock type of smell. This product is great because it is lightweight and provides a non-sticky finish. The scent is the same pleasant floral scent as with the other 2 products in this range.
The fluid has a light purple tinge/colour to it and that gives instant skin tone correction. So it doesn't only protect, it corrects.

It comes off easily with my regular cleansing so I don't have to worry about it clogging my pores or causing a build up on my skin. I just apply it onto my face and neck before I do my make up in the morning and off I go. It feels matte and the finish is non greasy.
For more information on these products, you can visit the Neutrogena Singapore Facebook site, and their Whitening page on the Neutrogena Singapore Facebook page.

Someone Told Me My Husband Was Cheating

Yesterday, I had an email from someone who is on my Facebook. I've never met him before (at least I don't think so), but I suppose he has seen photographs of my husband on my FB and blog.
I trust David, but man... did my heart stop when I read that email. Then I thought nah, it must be spam or a bad attachment that they want to trick people into opening. But as I scrolled down, I realised it wasn't an attachment that I had to open afterall, it was a picture that was pasted directly at the end of the email. So I scrolled all the way down.
And it wasn't my husband lah! This guy looks like an utter v-neck wearing douchebag (sorry for judging you, Guy who looks like my husband a little). Also, this guy is smiling in the photo and David never smiles for pics. Haha. But ok, for someone who has only seen pics on David on my blog or FB, I think it is very easy to mistaken this guys pic for him. If I hold this pic very very far away, it does kinda look like David in terms of colouring.

He said in the email that it was urgent so I replied to him immediately, I can imagine his anguish. It's not my husband in that pic but I guess for him, it's still terrible news. Anyway, I'm not mad at this guy for sending me this scary email. Actually I'm thankful, cos if it were indeed my husband up to no good, I damn well wouldn't want to be kept in the dark. Then it occurred to me... oh poor thing, this guy had to snoop and then find out his GF is having jolly chats with other men on OK Cupid (which I assume is a dating website).

Some of you may say... chatting is not cheating, lah!. Yes, people in relationships can have friends of the other sex. But honestly, if you're in a relationship... is there really a need to go specifically looking to make new male acquaintances? I really don't get it.

If you're in a relationship and still fishing around in bars, or dating websites/apps then you're most definitely looking for something better to move on to or to cheat. That's my opinion. So if you catch your partner making 'friends' online (secretly behind your back) and they say that it's harmless, just to make friends. I call bullshit on that.

What do you think?

1-for-1 Brazilian Wax at Pink Parlour

Pink Parlour @ Orchard Central
Pink Parlour has been around for 5 years already and their reputation is growing so I've been wanting to try it out for myself. I used my Entertainer app for a great deal there.
Buy one get one free  Brazilian Wax service (each session is Sg$55, but with the Entertainer app, I get 2 sessions for $55!). That's very very cheap for professional brazilian wax session! What a great deal!
Front reception
I went to the Pink Parlour at Orchard Central. The parlour itself is absolutely girly chic. I love that it has the pink kitty cat mascot all around too, such a cute touch. The lighting of the place is very warm and cosy, it's much like a spa.
Area for Pedicures
The lounge
My experience at Pink Parlour was great, I felt pampered with their pleasant and friendly service. It's not my first time having a Brazilian wax, after about 10 years I consider myself a veteran so the pain level for me here was at a zero (seriously). But I have had painful wax jobs elsewhere even though I'm so accustomed to waxing! I can say that even if you are new, the pain level of this session by my therapist is really low. It is because they are trained in the proper technique and they use good quality hardwax to minimise discomfort. So if  it's your first time, don't worry, you're in great hands and the therapist is gentle.
Private rooms for waxing
Actually, until now, Pink Parlour still maintains its reputation for zero give-ups over the 5 yrs. Meaning no client has quit half way through getting a Brazilain wax. Everything is over and done with within 20 mins, you can even do it during your lunch break.

What I wondered during my session was how come there's so many wooden spatulas ???? Then I realised my therapist never double dipped the spatulas into the wax pot.  This is a great hygiene practice I wish more salons would have, so there's no risk of contamination or spread of germs.
No Double Dipping
Their hygiene standards are impeccable. Before ever touching the client, the therapist will sterilize their hands using hospital grade sanitizers that kill 99.99% germs and viruses, plus they wear masks and gloves. After each session, their treatment beds are liberally misted with an FDA approved anti-bacterial solution and the towels are changed. So your room is always fresh and clean.
My Therapist :)

The results met my high expectations. Very clean and smooth finish. No irritation or discomfort at all (I some times get irritation because my skin is so sensitive). Some places I've done Brazilian waxing at in the past, would disappoint me because they don't wax all the way back to the butt crack so the job feels so incomplete!!! (Ladies who do Brazilian wax will know exactly what I'm talking about). At Pink Parlour they take everything off, the result is baby soft skin and completely hairless front to back.
There are also other Pink Parlour services available on the Entertainer app for 6 different locations, so you can just pick the Pink Parlour that is closest to you. (Or try them all one by one!)

Where there are boobs, men will gravitate

Just last weekend, David and I were at the taxi stand at 313Somerset, waiting for a taxi to go home when an older gentleman who was standing behind us in the queue started chatting to him. As it turns out, he is Scottish too... and they have mutual friends in their work circle. Oh what a happy coincidence for them. -_-

Then when it was our turn to get in the taxi, David asks him where he was headed. And he said Harry's near Orchard Towers. And David turns to me and asks, "you wouldn't mind stopping there for one drink before we head home, yeah?"

Urgh!!! I already had one foot in the taxi, I was almost home free!

"Ohkay..."

So all 3 of us get in the taxi and head Harry's. We have been to this Harry's bar a few times before, because some of David's friends drink there. I wouldn't say it's a particularly nice place to be at but it does get interesting sitting outside and looking across the street at the lady boys and hookers going in and out of Orchard Towers.

Some familiar faces there. The usual suspects. David is leaning on the railings talking to the guy. And I take a seat, there's just one seat vacant infront of me. Most other seats are filled. Then some old guy (who was pleasant enough) sits across from me. *polite smile and nod*.
In comes a (I think Filipino) lady with huge tits (I think fake cos they were hard and round bazookas) and a very skimpy top. She was only as tall as my belly button but each boob was larger than my head. She sat a few tables down, and in front of her the seat is empty. Then the guy infront of me says, "oh I better move so your husband can sit here."

And I'm like, "no no, don't move, it's ok" (Sounding like I really wanted him to stay, but honestly I was just being polite because I really thought he was moving to give David a seat. But David doesn't need it because he's happily standing and talking to his new friend).

And with that, he takes his glass of gin and moves hastily to sit in front of bazookas. At this time, our friend who was seated at the table just next to me, jokes out loud " Sorry, Holly, you don't have the same assets as she does." And I laugh, he laughs. Only it wasn't really a joke.

The old man did move because of big tits. Kind of a cock thing to do. Then I felt insulted ... not as if I wanted the company of the old man with the glass of gin. In fact I didn't even speak to him the whole time he was there in front of me. But like, it was kinda demoralising.... like someone getting up to leave because he preferred to sit in front of a hooker with tits hanging out. Quite rude, but of course he doesn't owe me anything. What would you have done?

It's like have a big set of tits, let them hang out and men will gravitate. Have 2 degrees or have acerbic wit, let those things hang out and watch men fall over in awe... NOT.

Thankfully though, after that one drink, we did leave to go home. So I didn't have to sit there, all unattractive and frigid looking for very long.

So yeah, where there are boobs on show, men will gravitate. Haha (but not funny).

The Oriental Spa Chamber

Huang Ah Ma, The Oriental Spa Chamberis homegrown spa brand Mary Chia’s first Oriental wellness spa concept, which has Eastern-inspired massage treatments designed for both men and women. The spa is located at Porcelain Hotel in the heart of the Chinatown heritage area, only a 2 minute walk from Chinatown Mrt (Pagoda street exit).
I made it a girly afternoon with my best-friend, Farizan because with my Entertainer app, the treatments are 1 for 1.
I love the ambiance of this spa. It looks and feels very traditional and oriental with the red lanterns, carpets and lacquered Chinese sliding doors. It's like walking in to an ancient foreign land. Yet it is combined with modern comforts like soothing piped in background music, air conditioning that is not too hot or too cold and best of all I think their massage beds are excellent. It was so well cushioned, making it very comfortable to lie on, even when faced down for more than an hour.
The session was started with some warm aromatic tea. Then we were led down the hallway to our private massage rooms. We actually had an adjoining room but there are single rooms available as well and even a special couples room with Jacuzzi.
We had the Imperial Chopsticks Massage which is normally $270 for a 90 minute session. But with the Entertainer we pay for one but two people get to enjoy the services.

Huang Ah Ma The Oriental Spa Chamber's Imperial Chopsticks Massage uses chopsticks as a tool for a unique body massage experience. A bundle of bamboo chopsticks are used to execute the massage in three primary movements - tapping, kneading and pressing on acupoints.

It was my very first time having an Imperial Chopsticks Massage. I did not know what to expect. My masseur started by tapping my whole body with bundles of chopsticks. I thought to myself, OMG am I going to be beaten with chopsticks for the next 90 minutes?! (haha) But it only lasted about a minute, and when she was done, I could feel a tingly feeling all over. It was a very quick boost of blood circulation. My therapist informed me that the tapping motion helps regulate the "chi" flow in the body.
Then she used some nice massage oil and massaged my shoulders neck and head. Ohhhh this was so incredibly tension relieving. With every pressing motion she did, I could feel my body get into deep relaxation.

Next she oiled my back, and she rolled the chopsticks up and down my back. It's like a kneading motion to relieve muscular tension. Before I turned up for this massage session, I was so worried that it was going to be painful poking and scrapping with chopsticks. But from my experience at The Oriental Spa Chamber, the rolling of the chopsticks on well oiled skin is actually very enjoyable.

In the 90 minutes, practically all of your body is worked on. I enjoyed the legs the most, I always have aches in my legs so I loved that a generous amount of time was spend kneading and rolling the chopsticks all over my legs. When she was rolling the chopsticks on my thighs I kept thinking, Oh Yeaaahhh smoothen out my cellulite!!!

She also used the base of the bundle of chopsticks on various acupoints on my body which helped relieve stress and loosen me up.
My masseur was An Qi & Farizan had her massage by Meng Li. After the 90 minutes, I felt so relaxed and rejuvenated. My friend Farizan felt the same too. And she was so impressed with this massage that she wants to take her husband with her when she uses her Entertainer App.

Women Hate Uncertainty...

$
0
0
Men! They court you, they take you out to dinner, they charm you, they make you fall in love with them... and then the progression mostly ends there. With a big question mark. ?
Naturally it takes time to decide if a person is right for you, but a lot of men think that the most important thing is the chase. Once he has you hooked, he will feel as though the objective has been met and the game is over and won. Now he can sit back, relax and think nature will just take it's course in the progression of the relationship.

This is when all the problems start. Some people mistake it for the end of the 'honeymoon period' in a new relationship.... but what it really is... is the end of tangible progression.

So to the guys reading this... you may be unknowingly sabotaging your relationship. You see, women do not like uncertainty. We (and our friends) will start to question why we are in the relationship if we don't know where it's going. We might panic and assume something is wrong. We might start over compensating and turning on the pressure too much to the point that we smother you. Or worse still, interrogate you regarding your feelings towards the relationship. Uncertainty is the reason we let the crazy out of the bottle.
Here is what you need to do to get rid of uncertainty (and prevent the crazy):

1. Communicate your intentions. Of course, it's not all up to you, the purpose of communication is to find out what she wants in this relationship too. Is it just casual? Or does she expect something exclusive? Are you on the same page? Is there a compromise?

2. Give it a timeline. Do you know for a fact that you don't intend to settle down until you have been working for a year? Or perhaps you are planning to study overseas for 3 years so you  are not looking to get serious about marriage until after you return to Singapore? Craft out a timelline and make it known to her so she's in the loop and can make informed decisions rather than have her keep guessing what's going to happen. And worse still, act on misinformation.

3. Don't let it stagnate. You don't want things to settle in a relationship rut. Life needs to keep moving and your relationship should be fluid. There's no need for large milestones all the time, but small steps in progression will keep her sane. For instance, introduce her to your circle of friends, then to your family, invite her to your best friend's wedding as your plus one, then plan a weekend away together, give her the spare house keys. The key is constant progression.

Uncertainty causes unnecessary hurt and pain between partners.... and if you've ever wondered why the relationships you've had in the past all ended with because the girls slowly turned psycho on you.. questioning your every move.... well, it's all down to the uncertainty you have caused her to feel! If you're serious about the girl and want it to work, make the conscious effort to minimize uncertainty.
P.S.- I just got back from Bangkok. Was there for the lookbook shoot for the HollyJean X ClubCouture 2014 collection :)  Stay tuned for behind the scenes, and I'll let you know when this year's collection is launched!

Crème Simon Launch in Singapore!

I was at the Launch of Crème Simon in Singapore on Friday. Their mobile pop up store is at Knightsbridge on Orchard road until 28th July, near the Abercrombie store so you can check it out when you're in town.
The brand was started in the 1860s in France by Joseph Simon. It is made mostly of natural ingredients, a concoction of seven carefully selected flowers and plants with incredible healing properties.
I love how their products smell and am amazed that it's not perfumed, it's the natural smell of a concoction of 7 different kinds of flowers.
I'm falling in love with many products from this French brand.
I'm especially please with their Crème Universelle which is a lightweight moisturiser that is based on the original heritage crème popuarised for its ability to heal acute dryness and skin irritations. Truly a universal cream because I can use it on my face, body, on chapped lips, on my cuticles, all over really!

I've started using their sleeping mask too. It's so pampering. I apply it on my face before bedtime and just leave it on through the night. Sheet masks are so last year.

Crème Simon is tailored to the unique conditions of your climate. Which is great because in our humid conditions, I love a cream which does a good job moisturising but doesn't feel thick.
Check out the Creme-Simon websiteto buy products online or to see where their mobile store will be moving to next. By the way, if you're purchasing online at their e-store, you get 10% Discount when you use voucher code -9BGHF7P .

One of my favs is this #OOTD . A comfy and pretty kimono top. It'll be on sale at KyriaQ from 8.30pm onwards (today).
Such a pretty powder blue-gray colour and Japanese blossom type print.
It is great as outerwear to dress up an otherwise boring casual tank and shorts. And great for our weather as well because the material is light and the loose cut is airy.
KyriaQ does bags and accessories too.

So far I've been sharing with you how I use my Entertainer App for big items like Free Flow Prosecco brunches and spa massages. While the Entertainer is great for saving money on those high value items ... it also has plenty of deals for the little things you come across daily.

Whenever I'm in a mall or different neighbourhood, one of the first things I do is search my entertainer for deals near me. For example, if I'm thirsty and want to buy a drink, I might as well get another one free right? :)
I was at Downtown East in Pasir ris the other day to see my mum and I used my Entertainer at The Yogurt Place.
I love their Yogurt floats, especially on a hot day. The frozen yogurt is not too sweet, and paired with the cranberry juice it is so refreshing. And healthier than like having a fizzy drink too!
The regular price is $4 each. But I got 2 for $4 with my Entertainer app. So one for me, and one for my mum :)
Try the Entertainer for 1 month. A single month membership is priced at SG$19 and you can access all the deals for restaurants, bars, leisure, body, kids and services for one month.

My readers can use promo code @hollyjean69 and get the one month app membership at SG$15 (20% off). This one month membership is not available to the public, so you can only get it through this special link. And key in the discount code  @hollyjean69 to get it at Sg$15.

Shaking Loose That Stage 5 Clinger

$
0
0
The stage 5 clinger is the ex that you just cannot shake loose. They get overly attached, way too fast and then won't move on once the relationship fails. You've been nice because after all, you feel bad about breaking up with them but you're getting tired of them playing that emotionally fragile card over and over again to keep you in their grasp. It's time to move on.. here's how:
1. Be honest.
Cliche as it may sound, you have to be cruel to be kind. No more sugar coating, just deliver the truth. Masking the truth in a bid to protect their feelings will only give them false hope and a bigger disappointment later on. Some times it is you who is the culprit, keeping them clung on because you cannot just tell it to them straight that it is O.V.E.R.
2. Stay away.
Give your ex 3 calls after the break up, after all some people need to contact you to ask questions, shout, cry, etc... it's all part of getting closure. There's no need to specify the 3 call limit, but mentally take note of it. Once  your ex uses 3 calls up, you can stop answering (and don't feel bad about it), don't meet up with her. Just stay away so they can move on.
3. Don't share.
Do not tellyour ex about your life and dating even though they claim to want know about it because they are now your 'friend'. Your ex is very likely going to obsess or worse still, jeopardise your new relationships. Your ex is probably stalking you on Facebook anyway, so there's no need to tell them about your life personally.
4. Don't try to get stuff back.
Tell them they can keep it or throw it out! A stage 5 clinger often devices clever ways to lure you back. Once you meet up, it's never just to return your stuff.... heck it was never even remotely about those objects in the first place. You're just going to have a tougher time pushing them away.
5. It's ok to be hated.
When I was single and dating, hate and anger were the best catalysts for me to move on after my break ups. When you hate someone you see the bad side of them (more than the good), this is reality. Why would they want to stick around or cling on to you, asshole! So yes, let them hate you, don't feel bad about it.

Protrend Color Lenses Now in Singapore :)

$

For a long time now, I've noticed many people from other countires using Pro Trend Color contact lenses in their instagram pics and I love the look. The colours and designs are very natural and soft looking.

Then one day, I saw my friend Dblchin Clara in Singapore using the lenses on her Instagram pic and I was like WhooHoo!! They have them in Singapore!

ProTrendColorSingapore sells the lenses are $19 per pair. They are monthly disposable lenses. They also have a promo right now- Buy 3 get 1 free if you like theProtrendColorSingapore Facebook Page.

They arrived by mail protected in bubblewrap. Love the girly packaging.

In each box there are 2 little sealed bottles which contain a pair of lenses and there is a plastic lens case for you to store the lenses.
Oh my! So cute! It's important to dispose and change lens case frequently for hygiene purposes so it's great that each pair you buy from Pro Trend Color comes with a case.
I chose 3 different designs of lenses. Here's a look at what each of the actual lens itself looks like. I chose these 3 designs because they do not have an ultra obvious dark limbal ring (limbal ring is the dark ring of colour around the iris), so they look much more natural and not harsh looking. And I always get Gray coloured lenses, I think it suits me better... you can try brown, green, blue, etc. The number 6.50 is my degree (yah I know, damn high)... but you can order them in your own degree or even in Plano which means no degree at all if you have perfect eyesight and just want to have nice coloured lenses.
I like SECRET gray, it's the most natural style and colour that I have tried.
Not too obvious or vivid, yet it does make my eyes have a touch of colour and look bigger.
ALLURE sky gray is more of a bluish gray. It's the lightest shade of the 3 pairs I chose.
The colour feels almost translucent... so beautiful.
Here is a pic of my natural eye colour on the left side, and Pro Trend Color's ALLURE sky gray on the right, so you can see the difference. I do like just my natural eye colour as well, but sometimes a new colour can make my make up look better, or just give my face a refreshing change. Apart from adding colour, these lenses make your iris larger as they have a 14.5mm to 15mm effect once worn.
MELODY gray is very sweet. The pattern actually has tones of light blue and pinkish beige mixed in with the gray. I can't decide which design I like better actually....  They are all so pretty!!
In terms of comfort, these are better quality and more comfortable to wear than most of my monthly big eye coloured lenses. Of course, you cannot sleep in them but for wearing throughout the day, I found that there wasn't any irritation or friction. I tend to have dry eyes in aircon environment, but just eyedrops solves this problem easily. I also hate it when poor fitting lenses slide around my eyeball but I don't have this problem with Pro Trend Color lenses.

You can order or ask questions by messaging them through their FB page.
You can also check out more pics of the lenses on ProTrendColorSingapore's Instagram.

Loving an Angry Person

$
0
0
I used to think I had a temper... until I met my husband. Man, he is explosive. He doesn't get angry at me or anything that I do, but when he's angry, I try to calm him down. So like, I don't get any opportunity to throw a temper tantrum anymore, I kinda miss it... hahaa
Anyway I always say to him "Hulk Smash!" not just because of his Bruce Banner temper, but because it's like he doesn't know his own strength, and his grip is often too tight. He always breaks stuff in our house because he just handles things too roughly (not out of anger). So sometimes if I know something is delicate, I will say, "You don't Hulk Smash ah..." before I hand the delicate item to him. lol

Oops, I digressed.

Loving an angry person.

They say that you shouldn't let angry people get away with bad behaviour. If you put up with their anger, then that is what you will get.

But have you honestly tried talking sense to someone in a fit of anger? It's scary and a waste of breath!

Understand that the angry person in your life probably learned their anger patterns from their parents. Children pick up how to deal with their emotions by social and observational learning at home. Anger is just a bad habit to deal with the feelings of frustration because things are not going as the person wants.

If you're in love with an angry person, making changes in the way you deal with their anger will bring about consequences both good and bad. Only you can decide if these ideas will work for you or not.

1. Be calm
When you interact with an angry person, watch your own level of anger when your partner is upset. Some people inadvertently "egg on" the angry person by being sarcastic, or nasty back at them.

2. Don't criticize
Watch the type of complaints that you make that threaten his self-esteem such as statements of blame that start with "You always…" . Criticism and sarcasm about another person's behavior is not productive. Save your energy for problem solving.

3. Get the timing right
Don't try to reason while they are still angry, and remember that people are more irritable when they are tired or already frustrated. When they are calmer, look them in the eye and tell them that their behavior was unacceptable.

4. Set boundaries

Define your limits such as, "I'm not willing to watch you yell and hurl things across the room. I've got to go. We can talk about this when you calm down." Then walk away and leave them on their own for a while.

It is important to note, that if you are living in a physically abusive relationship, you need more help than any tips I can give you. Get professional help or just get out of it. Hugs.

Sunday Lemmings #TheClementiMall

The Clementi Mall is strategically located in the heart of the Clementi town. I've not been in Clementi area since my NUS days.. I was so amazed at how much it has changed, especially with the addition of this huge mall. There's an air-conditioned bus interchange directly accessible to the mall at level 1.
And the mall is also linked directly to the Clementi MRT Station at Level 3.
There are 142 shops including 16 restaurants and cafes in this mall, I was really spoiled for choice when I stepped in there. There's Charles & Keith, Cache Cache, Cotton On, Denizen, Future State, The Box, Kate Love, etc. For those with family, there are many kids stores too.
Whenever I'm there I must pop into Rubi Shoes (at #03-27) to check out the sale items! Rubi shoes are always so trendy and fun... and the prices are affordable so I can change shoes to match any outfit or mood.
The shoes on sale are usually priced at $5 or $10 only.
So many new Hello Kitty ballet flats and Hello Kitty sneakers in stock.
2 pairs for $30. You know, for my wedding afterparty I wore red polka dotted sneakers Rubi Shoes under my gown. Lol so comfy yet quirky enough to be stylish.
Ahhh they have multicoloured jelly sandals now.
And of course, flip flops galore! They're 2 pairs for $10, even the Hello Kitty flip flops.
Trendy bags and accessories too...
Here's a fun casual look I put together with stuff I bought at The Clementi Mall yesterday.
Yellow tank ($5) & dark blue denim Shortall Dungarees ($29.95) from Cotton On. Hidden Wire Headwrap ($6.95) and Frankie Fisherman Sandals ($29.95) from Rubi Shoes.
Super happy with my new sandals because I love the multi-toned weave... I actually wanted to just get plain brown sandals, and then I saw this pair and was like ,"I LIKEEEE!!!!" The leather doesn't cut into your skin, it feels soft and seasoned. And priced at just under $30... a great buy.

Are you lemming for any of my picks? Like Clementi Mall on Facebook to be updated on the latest promotions and happenings.

The Clementi Mall- Food!

The Clementi Mall is a popular destination to shop for daily necessities, fashion apparels and accessories, as well as all-day dining.
I was shopping there a few days ago and found that there are so many food choices. There's Coffee Kaki, Crepe Signature, Cupcakes with Love, Tori-Q , etc.
There are restaurants upstairs, and the basement is filled with food outlets. My favourite is Famous Amos at #B1-K2!
Hand made, delicious crunchy cookies... and oh boy they smell good.
They do muffins, and soft chewy cookies too. And have special ones made for birthdays and occasions.
After a few hours of shopping, and browsing , and plenty of snack breaks, I just jumped on the MRT which is accessible at level 3 of the mall... and headed home. :)
Of course, had to take away a bag of cookies for myself.

P.S.- Like Clementi Mall on Facebook too :)

Friction Burn on my Elbow! Eeek!

A few days ago I got a friction burn on my elbow. I was doing water sports at the time and didn't notice the abrasion until after I got out of the water. Then it started stinging! My pain threshold is high, but I just don't want it to scar!
A friend of mine, Brenda is a distributor of Forever products here and she recommended the Aloe Propolis Creme for my wound.  The cream has Propolis combined with Aloe Vera which is anti-inflammatory and epitheleal (meaning it pushes the propolis right down through all 7 layers of skin to the source of the infection). Propolis is a natural agent used by bees to maintain the health of the hive. Combining aloe and propolis makes this a fabulous product that not only heals but moisturises while it works.

The smell of this creme is pleasant, and it feels very soothing. Great for cuts and bruises so it's very handy to have at home, as part of a first aid kit.
It started to form a thick scab, but beneath it was still inflamed, sore and red. Here's a pic of my elbow at day 3, which was also the first day I used the Aloe Propolis Creme. I will use it twice a day and update you on the results.
Now, I also have the Aloe Vera Gelly as part of my first aid kit. This aloe gel is stabilized Aloe Vera gel which has not lost any of it's powerful nutrients during the extraction process. Aloe gel is epitheleal, it sinks down through all 7 layers of your skin if you apply it topically.
The Aloe Gelly can be used for gum infection or ulcers or on teething babies. Just rub some directly onto the gums. It doesn't smell or taste bad because they are all natural ingredients. Both the Aloe Propolis Creme and the Aloe Vera Gelly is great for rashes and skin conditions like Eczema.
Forever has a Bee Propolis tablet too. It has its own beehives, away from contamination and pollution.

I just take two when feeling low energy levels. It is an instant pick-me-up. And even has anti-aging properties. It is 100% natural. The only gripe I have about it is that it is bitter. But I have very low threshold for bitterness, I don't even like coffee because it's too bitter for me!

Bees line their hives with Propolis, making them more sterile than any operting theatre. Propolis is nature's natural antibiotic. They compress it into pills to take as an antibiotic, and into creams which are wonderful for skin conditions.

All the products are organic, have the Aloe Science Council Seal of Approval, the Kosher Seal of Approval and the Islamic Seal of Approval. :)

MARco marCO Italian Restaurant

Just tried MARco marCO with my friend Kuen a few days ago. It's a casual restaurant which serves Italian food- Pasta, Panini and Pizza. Service was super fast, fuss free and prices were between $7.90 to $12.90. It's like fast food without eating junk food.
I used my entertainer app again :) 2-for-1. So we got 2 classic pastas but only needed to pay for one.
We went to the outlet at Novena Square... the layout is very casual, with a modern industrial type feel to the place. It was empty when we got there before lunch hour.
But by the time we were done with our meal... a queue was building up.
I had the classic Bologna which is spaghetti with mince beef in a tomato based sauce. Pasta is cooked just right, al dente. There was a good amount of beef and sauce which tasted delicious.
Kuen had the Abruzzo which is just an aglio olio... it's a bit plain... I think my Bologna was nicer.
Bon appétit!

Actually, My Exes Weren't ALL That Bad

When I blogged about how to get rid of a stage 5 clinger last week, one of the points was to make them hate you because hate is a great way to get over someone. It's how I moved on from my past relationships so quickly... I just thought of all the shitty things about the guy.
Dress & Shades from ClubCouture
Hate is a self defense mechanism. But I focused on it so much that it has spilt over until today. When I think of most of my exes, bad memories come up. I think most of them are losers, assholes, liars.... (I think only very few like the Hungarian GB, I didn't hate at all when we broke up).

But the truth is, for the rest of the exes, I started to see all their flaws but they weren't all that bad, they had many good points too.

Remember Mr Print-N-Wank?  He was always late, but he would still pick me up no matter where in Singapore I was. He felt like it was his responsibility to fetch me from where ever and get me safely home.

The Compulsive Gambler, well... he may have frequently been penniless and broke ... but whenever it was my birthday or Christmas or Valentine's Day... by hook or by crook he would manage to get me a great present. It's like money was no object. He got me my first (and only) diamond necklace, an electronic drum kit that caught my eye, I can't recall what else... oh and my first fabulous Rabbit Vibrator (damn thing was like $300!!! And I had it for years after!).

The Biscuit had a great sense of humour, and made most days with him such a laugh or joyful squeal. He was honestly a delight to be around. He also had such a mild and calm temperament (which I took advantage of by throwing tantrums like it was going out of fashion).

Yeah... just thought I'd get it off my chest. They weren't all that bad.

Sonya Cosmetics

flawless by Sonya™ cosmetics is one of the only aloe vera-based cosmetic lines in the world that delivers skin care and makeup in one.
Packaging is dark purple and reflective.
Today I'm reviewing the Volumizing Mascara, Brilliant Blush and Delicious Lipstick.
My face without Mascara, blush and lipstick.
The thing I like about Sonya cosmetics is that not only are the ingredients natural, but the end result is natural looking too. A kind of effortless beauty.
A single coat of mascara.
With the volumizing mascara, my lashes thicker. If you want a more dramatic party look, you will need probably up to 4 coats as this is not a heavy mascara. Even though it adds volume, it is absolutely not clumpy looking at all. Staying power is pretty good, it doesn't smudge and make me all panda eyed. However, it won't last through a swimming session. Despite this, it's still a great everyday mascara, because it looks good and natural, and it's easy to clean off (does not leave a black stain on my skin when I wash it off).
Blush gives a natural glow.
The blush is my favourite. The particles are so fine and smooth, it glides onto my skin very easily and the colour shows up in a natural, beautiful glow. And it stays put, does not oxidize or disappear at the end of the day. It doesn't come with a mini brush, but I always use my own large blush anyway. There are 6 shades, I'm using number 391 (Olivia).
Soft and natural lip colour.
The lippie I have is a natural peach shade. I love nude or natural shades, because I think it helps me look younger compared to a darker colour. This lipstick is very moisturising because it is infused with aloe vera. I think the only trade off is that, such lippies don't have very strong staying or staining power. It will not last through a meal, but re application is easy. And upon application, lips are luscious, soft and moist.

All in all, these make up products protect, nourish and sooth the skin and lips and lashes.
All of the Sonya make up products are aloe vera based and contain no harsh chemicals. In fact, everything is organic and has the Aloe Science Council Seal of Approval. Plus the Kosher Seal of Approval and the Islamic Seal of Approval.

Hating on Harry

I was watching the National Day Parade 2014 live on TV last Saturday... kudos to Dick Lee for music direction... thoroughly enjoyed the whole show and it was not vomit inducingly tacky like the last few years. That man has my respect.

I was logged in to Facebook while watching the parade on TV, because I'm a social media addict, and it was heart warming to see all the National Day updates from my friends on my newsfeed. All fillled with family, friends, love. And good sentiments. You know, you really choose to be happy and embrace all that is good in life. That's the way it should be.
I loved looking at their proud & happy pictures on this day. (Hope you don't mind me sharing your posts which brought me much cheer, but if you would like me to delete, just let me know.)

Another thing that struck a chord in me, was when Lee Kuan Yew arrived. He looked so frail that it made me sad to see him weak. I'm sure there were others who felt the same.
Then it surprised me that some people on Facebook were posting nasty comments about him. Why are they hating on Harry? It's like these people have no sense of empathy. It made them feel good to see him old and frail. They relish it and even laugh. Someone even called him an orang utan.  Even if you don't like how he ruled Singapore, such criticism and wishing ill fate upon others is very poor form. I suppose people who are helpless can only vent their frustrations through slagging. But you should feel like an ass, not feel proud about your lack of class.
Holy Moley!! Did I just see a zombie on tv? Hehe...
By the way, I'm neither pro-PAP nor anti-PAP, I vote based on the choices available. And if there's an opposition I believe can do the job better, I will definitely vote for what I think is best.

I think Lee Kuan Yew has done an awesome job picking up the pieces when Singapore was in shambles 49 years ago, and building our nation to the formidable one we have today. Ok, he may not be the same race as me. And I feel Eurasians in Singapore do not get so many perks in terms of government funding. But I don't expect my government to pick up my slack anyway. So, I'm still grateful for all that Lee Kuan Yew has done.
A living doll / Puppet is alive
I am not so bigoted that I cannot see the good he has brought upon all of us. But I see that some of my Facebook friends are not like that. Such a shame.
XX said there's a puppeteer at the back of his chair. I said they fixed wires in his body and there's a controller in the control room. My brain is full of sci-fi.
Calling him a rag doll/ puppet (I assume because there was one shot on tv where it showed someone having to grip Lee Kuan Yew by the waistband of this trousers to support him, and also to help him sit down. Bahahaha! Haters, please take a good look at yourselves, what will you be like when you're 90 huh? There's no need to mock this old man because he has done so much more in his lifetime than you have in yours plus your children's lifetimes put together, so yeah set them a great example by just moaning and mocking an old man.

Yes, life in Singapore is tough but there are pros and cons everywhere in this world. Blame yourself if u cannot succeed, not the government. No one owes you a bed of roses, so stop acting so entitled!

For every one of you that leaves this country there are a few thousand others (at least) who are queuing to get in and take your place here.

Pffft... if not for Lee Kuan Yew, you would be herding chickens in some shit filled kandang.

P/S - Normally, I never delete comments people make  on my blog, but I will have to delete race related comments here. It's not just one race that is hating on LKY, so don't turn it into a racial thing. K, thanks!
